Rajma Masala

Rajma is a common lentil used in India. It is rich in protein, and is loved for its nutritional values by many vegetarians!

Ingredients

Rajma - 1 cup
Bay leaves - 2
Cloves - 2
Cinnamon - 2
Shahi jeera -¼ tsp
Fennel - ¼ tsp
Pepper cons - few
Onion - 1 finely chopped
Tomato - 1 chopped
Bell Pepper - 1 finely chopped
Ginger and garlic paste - 1 tsp
Kasuri methi -¼ tsp
Chilli powder -1 tsp
Coriander powder - 1 tsp
Turmeric powder - ¼ tsp
Garam masala powder - ½ tsp
Fennel powder - ¼ tsp
Jeera powder - ¼ tsp
Hot water - 2 cups
Oil - 1 tbsp
Ghee - 1 tsp
Salt to taste

Method
Wash and soak rajma overnight. In a pressure pan add oil and heat,
to the hot oil add the whole garam masalas and fry for few minutes.
Add chopped onion, bell peppers and saute well.
Add ginger and garlic paste and saute well till the raw
smell goes. Then add chopped tomato and salt.
Cook for some time and add turmeric, chili,
coriander, garam masala, fennel, and jeera powder and mix well.
Combine the soaked rajma and hot water, close and pressure cook for 2-3 whistles.
Open when the pressure is released.
Mix well and a spoon of ghee and serve hot.





Note

The same recipe can be done using an instant pot pressure cooker.
Prepare the masala in the saute setting.
After adding rajma and water close the lid and the vent.
Use the bean/chili option to cook.
Finally, add ghee/coconut oil and mixing well.
This gives a nice flavor to the recipe.
This is an instant way to prepare this masala.
You can separately prepare the masala and the rajma and
then mix them together as well.
