Mysore Pak

Mysore Pak was first prepared in the kitchens of the Mysore Palace. The cook at the Mysore
Palace made a sweet of gram flour, ghee, and sugar and simply called it ‘Mysore Pak’.
Pak in Sanskrit and other Indian vernaculars means sweet.
It is traditionally served in weddings and other festivals of southern India. It is very popular
in baby showers too.

Ingredients

• Gram flour - 1/2 cup.
• Water - 1/2 cup.
• Ghee - 1/2 cup.
• Sugar - 2 cups.
• Oil - 1/2 cup.

Method:

Sugar Syrup:-

Take sugar in a thick bottomed saucer, add water and let it boil till it comes to form a softball
( check this by dropping syrup  in a water bowl)

Take besan gram flour in a bowl and mix hot oil and then sieve it.

.
Keep heating oil and ghee in a separate pan.
Now add the gram flour gradually to the sugar syrup and keep stirring so that
no lumps are formed.

Then add the  hot ghee and oil mixture to the flour and stir it continuously
till the mixture starts bubbling.

Keep doing this until you use all the ghee and oil mixture. You will start
getting a nice sweet smell of besan roasted aroma.

Pour the mixture into a greased tray and Cool a bit and cut into the desired shape.
Separate it when cooled.

 Enjoy the  Mysore Pak.

Note:

Keep on medium flame at all time and keep stirring or it will get burned.
The softball consistency is key.
